Not so long ago our company released a fun-making app Selfie King. It’s a refreshing way to interact with your friends and even total strangers through taking selfies and joyful way to challenge each other. And today’s post is dedicated to a quite unknown side of our product development: the server part.

We are all familiar with that situation in software development: code is written, everything is working fine, except some small but vital detail that needs your attention – font. You have a non-standard or commercial font that Windows wants to substitute.

We really love Grails – a dynamic web application framework and have been thoroughly rewarded for the years of stream-lined development since version 0.4.4.

Scand has been using Grails since version 0.4.4 for dozens of applications. Until recently the mainstream development version was 2.1.x, though be frankly we used customized distributive that includes special fixes performed by our developers. June 27, 2011 Graeme Rocher, the Grails Project Lead announced the team’s decision to change Grails 1.4 to Grails 2.0.

Our colleague Alexey Sergeev is back from the GR8Conf that took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, on May 17-19, 2011.

Scand Java team upgraded to Groovy 1.8 once the release was announced on April 27, 2011.

Our Groovy guru prepared an introduction and showed some tricks of programming in Groovy, described the advantages of this dynamic language and demonstrated its effectiveness and other benefits it provides to developers and QA specialists.

February 10-12, 2011 – the annual International Scientific Conference “Open Semantic Technologies for Intelligent Systems” (OSTIS-2011) came around in Minsk, Belarus.

The Groovy development team made a 1.7 line release upon fixing several small, however, sometimes critical bugs that caused troubles in some cases.
