Overview of Our Client

Our client was an e-commerce company operating on multiple international marketplaces. When their sales volumes grew, managing orders, payments, logistics, and customer interactions throughout different platforms became extremely difficult.

The company needed a centralized e-commerce order management system that would connect multiple marketplaces, automate operational procedures, and provide a unified interface for managing global sales.

Existing tools lacked the flexibility and scalability required to support diverse payment providers, fulfillment services, and marketplace integrations.

  • Region: Global
  • Industry: E-commerce / Retail Technology
  • Timeline: ~18 months

Challenge

Managing e-commerce operations across multiple marketplaces requires integrating a large number of external systems, each with its own APIs and business processes. Consequently, we encountered the following challenges:

  • Integrate multiple global marketplaces into a single platform
  • Support different payment gateways and transaction processing
  • Automate complex order fulfillment tasks
  • Synchronize logistics providers and shipping services
  • Resist high transaction volumes with stable behavior
  • Support internationalization, localization, and multi-currency operations

Main Goals

In order to build a corresponding e-commerce order management system, we prioritized the following objectives:

  • Centralize order management for multiple marketplaces
  • Automate order processing and fulfillment operations
  • Integrate payment gateways and financial flows
  • Simplify shipping label generation and logistics management
  • Enforce real-time monitoring and operational visibility
  • Modernize the platform architecture for long-term scalability

Project Overview

SCAND participated in the full-cycle e-commerce order management system development, delivering both backend architecture and modern frontend applications.

The platform connected sales channels with marketplaces, payment providers, shipping carriers, and customer support services through a modular integration layer. Automated workflows processed incoming orders, verified payments, prepared shipments, managed financial operations, and sent customer notifications.

The solution used Microsoft technologies and combined modern .NET services with cloud-ready infrastructure and responsive web interfaces to support enterprise-scale e-commerce operations.

Solution

The final solution was a cloud-based e-commerce order management system that automated the complete order lifecycle, from synchronization with marketplaces to payment processing and the handover of shipments to delivery services.

Its modular architecture allowed it to onboard new marketplaces and external services without affecting the existing processes, whereas its real-time monitoring provided visibility at all stages of order fulfillment.
